My name is Diana Davis and I live upstate New York. This
is my first website and the first of my designs after learning
the basics of digitizing.
I have always been interested in sewing, knitting and now
machine embroidery ...the first time I saw a home
embroidery machine was in 1997 in our local sewing shop
...it was love at first sight ... this is an amazing hobby ... you
never get bored with it ...
When the machines were first introduced to the home
market there was very little support and your only choices
of designs were to buy from the manufacturer of your
machine or from the stock design catalogs and both were
expensive. Over time digitizing software came out but that
too was extremely expensive ... with time there are now
some very good affordable programs out there and this was
when the interest in this hobby just exploded.
The program I purchased is very affordable .... Embird ...
which i am now a dealer ... you can download the free trial
version from this site ... it took me about two months to get
totally comfortable with the basics.
I am retired now and wanted something to do that keeps my
brain stimulated and this fits the bill. There is always an
idea to explore.
You can personalize your gift giving like never before ... I
have made album covers for people with their names,
wedding dates; new born's name, date of birth; its endless
but whatever you do for a friend/family it is truly touching
how they respond to such a personalized gift.
When I first got my machine my intention was to just
embroider sweat shirts as a business until I realized
everyone is doing that ... and I really did not enjoy working
with sweat shirts. I made evening bags for a while but what
I really enjoy is concentrating on home decor and apparel. I
think you can truly make very unique evening clothes with
this.
The program I purchased was under $150 and I belong to
the embroidery clubs for that software on Yahoo and from
what I have learned several of the members went out and
bought programs for over $1200 and found they actually
liked this one better. From what I could find in my research
... when you compare item by item what a program offers
... why pay more if you don't have to
Now you have a lot of choices ... there are many designers
working out of their homes creating wonderful designs and
selling online and the cost of these designs are much more
affordable.
If you are just starting out ... enjoy it ... it's a lot of fun ... if
you have been doing this for a while ... you know what I am
talking about ... maybe this is an addiction .. oh well I
definitely don't want to go into rehab over it.
